Let Me Show You Around

Consider this your onboarding!

I set out with the intention to keep Author’s Note pretty simple, for me and for you. So consider this your virtual tour of Author’s Note and a front seat look into how things will be around here.

On Instagram and Facebook, things will look like this:

Every Monday I’ll release an update on my writing:

  • How it’s going

  • My goal for the week

  • Reflections from the past week

  • What’s going well

  • What I need to change

  • Etc.

(Talk about accountability)

The first Wednesday of every month I will introduce our month’s guest. I’m very excited about this portion!

  • The second Wednesday you can expect to briefly read about our guest’s story behind their story.

  • The third Wednesday of every month you can expect to briefly read about their writing process.

  • The fourth Wednesday of every month you can briefly read about our guest’s writing tips and advice.

The last Wednesday of every month is also when the monthly newsletter will be released!

You can access the entire interview, review a summary of my writing progress and participate in the month’s “Table Talks” directly on the newsletter site.

Table Talk? What’s that?

I am SO glad you asked!

I sense a story here…

You’re not wrong there 😅

Every Thursday my husband wakes up at 5am to go to his men’s group. When he gets home around 8:30, our conversations start something like this:

Me: sips coffee “How was group?”

Him: “It was good. We talked about …”

More often than not the discussion that took place within his men’s group sparks conversation between us. Next thing we know it’s 9:30 and he’s late for work and the kids are impatient with hunger but we both can’t stop smiling.

It’s awesome.

One Thursday in particular my husband shared something someone else within his group had shared.

It was an analogy for friendship groups.

Basically, you have your living room friends, your kitchen friends, and your table friends.

Your living room friends are the ones you know kind of well and enjoy talking to and hanging out with but for the most part you just hang out in the living room.

Your kitchen friends are the friends you’re more comfortable around and don’t mind inviting into your occasional mess.

Your table friends though are the ones you literally sit down around a table with, break bread, enjoy a meal, and stay long after the food has gone cold and the sun has set.

I aspire for this community to be a community of table friends. One that stands on genuine friendship, support and encouragement, authentic engagement, and doesn’t mind lingering.

Table Talk will be available every Friday. Think weekly discussion within our super awesome community.

I will ask a question or provide a prompt and you answer in the comment section, whether that’s on IG, Facebook or the Author’s Note website.

Easy peasy!

Please don’t think of this as a writing contest or homework.

Just be your story-telling self and let the words flow! 😄

And that’s the end of our tour! Thank you for joining and I’ll “see” you November 27th for the release of the

VERY FIRST NEWSLETTER

Until then, tune into Instagram and Facebook for this month’s “guest”!

(hint: it’s me)

Happy writing, reading and creating! ☕️
