hi, my name is (what)?

Are you even a 90s baby if you don’t quote the Real Slim Shady?

Hello there! Welcome to Author’s Note.

My name is Lauren Chronister. Some of my favorite people call me babe/wifey, mommy, Laur and occasionally LC.

(I would never dream of replacing the real LC)

I am a Believer, wife, SAH mama of two littles, writer, aspiring author and creative.

I am positively enamored with books and reading.

Writing is my therapy and heartbeat and everything in between.

I love food and traveling and my dream “occupation” (like if money didn’t matter sort of thing) would literally be to combine the two: to eat my way around the world. And write about it all of course.

I have a background in elementary education and even though I am not an educator I still just love kids. None more than my own though.

I grew up a military brat so I moved all over (including 3 years in Okinawa, Japan) but I’ve always been a southern girl at heart. South Carolina is my home ❤️

Fall is my favorite season so I am currently in my element: tea in a cute mug. Fuzzy socks, oversized sweatshirts, messy bun, and leggings seven days a week. Snuggling up next to my husband in front of the fire. Pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin Cheerios. Raking up leaves into the smallest, most pitiful pile you’ve ever seen (we have a baby tree) but gosh darn if I’m not still cracking up at the sight of my toddler living her best life.

Okay. Enough about me. You’re here for Author’s Note, yeah?

So here’s the story:

The idea for Author’s Note came to me after finishing yet another thriller (my fav genre).

I have always had a fascination with reading the author’s note and acknowledgements simply because I was (am) always impressed with a writer’s ability to create an entire world. Prior to writing the first draft of my first book, I hadn’t a single clue how author’s achieved something so profound. Also, I was (am) always impressed by the village it takes to get a book published.

Now having written a book myself and presently in the thick of preparing my third and *final* draft to send out, I am all the more enthralled.

The story behind the story never fails to interest me.

The thriller I most recently finished was no exception. Her author’s note is literally what made me a fan of hers and what made me want to read her other books.

Don’t get me wrong. I loved the book in and of itself but the author’s note is what made me a true fan.

I am intentionally being vague and not explicitly stating the author nor the book in hopes that I will one day get to interview her myself and all will be revealed.

Ever the thriller writer I know 🙄

In a nutshell: my (unique?) interest in author’s notes and acknowledgements coupled with my own personal writing journey (and allllllllll the things that come with that) had me longing for a community where I could explore both. Essentially learn and do.

Author’s Note was born.

Through it my hope is to tell the collective stories behind the stories: yours, mine, ours.

May we learn.
May we do.

Happy writing, reading and creating! ☕️
